Using games and iPads to develop our comprehension skills 📚

As part of Book Week NI, Y5 were invited to visit Bangor Library where we met the amazing author Aimee Clint who, at age 19, has published not one, but two books!

Inspired by her brother who was diagnosed with Autism at age 5, Aimee has written a wonderful collection of child-friendly stories, designed to make children aware of the condition and how it affects daily life.

We were also privileged to meet Shirley White from Assistance Dogs NI, who told us about how she trains assistance dogs to work alongside children with Autism. We were very excited to meet one of her dogs in-training, the gorgeous labradoodle Joy!

What an amazing morning!

We are having great fun using an extract of Harry Potter to help us with our Literacy skills 📖
