Feelings & Emotions

It's important for the development of children's emotional wellbeing that they learn to identify and recognise their feelings. When you can recognise your emotions it helps you to:

  • Understand the reason behind your emotion
  • Feel more in control
  • Ask for help
  • Be a better friend
  • Manage your emotions

Watch the video clip below from 'Inside Out' as a starting point to talking about and recognising emotions with your child.

How to make a Gratitude Jar

Gratitude has been proven to have a positive impact on our mental health and wellbeing. Expressing gratitude promotes positive emotions, decreases stress and negative thinking and increases happiness. It can make us more resilient, increase our kindness and also strengthens relationships.

One easy way to express gratitude is by making a Gratitude Jar. We've put together a video to show you a very easy way of making your own. You can decorate however you like, the important thing is that each time you think of something you are grateful for, you write or draw it and put it in your jar!

Create a gratitude tree. A fun, creative and pretty way of acknowledging the goods things in your daily life.
