Forest School

Forest School at BCIPS

We are delighted to announce that Bangor Central Integrated Primary School is now a Forest School!

We are so excited to develop our Forest School provision working with the Northern Ireland Forest School Association and, of course, to see all the benefits that it brings to our children.

In Bangor Central we love to take our learning outdoors and every class has dedicated time throughout the week to engage in our outdoor learning zones, outside of breaktime and lunchtime.

We know that learning outside helps to:

  • develop reflective and inquisitive thinking
  • encourage holistic development of children
  • develop resilience and adaptability
  • allow children to become more able to identify hazards and risks
  • develop a love, appreciation and respect for nature and all that is living
  • develop self-awareness, confidence and self-esteem
  • develop collaborative working and communication skills
  • provide positive health benefits – both physically and mentally – and assist gross and fine motor development
  • develop a lifelong love of the outdoors
